Mobile App Calculates Your Timelapse Video Settings

Danny Greer
Published: Last Updated:

If you’re serious about creating timelapse videos, this is one mobile application you’ll want to have in your production toolkit!

Timelapse shooting can require a bit of mathematics…figuring out shot intervals, number of shots, event duration, etc.  The new mobile app from Enrique Pacheco simplifies much of the calculating that goes into setting up your DSLR timelapse shoots.  Enrique is an experienced timelapse photographer (we’ve featured some of his work in a previous post), so he knows what goes into making timelapse video projects successful.

The timelapse calculator provides essential settings for setting up a shot using a DSLR camera.  Input settings include event duration, shot interval, number of shots, clip length and frames per second.  A handy scroll wheel makes using the application a snap.

Additional features of the Timelapse Toolkit app include

  • A Sunrise/Sunset, Moonrise/Moonset tracker that allows you to better plan for your shoots (essential for doing nighttime work).
  • A flashlight, or “torch”, useful as an extra light when shooting at night.
  • A roundup of timelapse shooting tips.

Best of all, the Timelapse Toolkit app is avaliable for both iOS (iPad, iPhone) and Android devices.  It’s currently $2.99, making it a must-have for any serious timelapse photographer.  Want to know more?  Check out this short video demo:
