Take a look at Panasonic&#8217;s new GH5 II and GH6, their specs, added features, and performance capabilities.<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the last two years, we\u2019ve seen Panasonic LUMIX put a spotlight equally on their new camera line, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.premiumbeat.com\/blog\/panasonic-lumix-s1-vs-s2-camera\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">the S series<\/a>, and their new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.premiumbeat.com\/blog\/exploring-panasonics-holy-trinity-for-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">S Pro lens<\/a> line. As every other brand seemingly moves towards full-frame mirrorless, it only seemed natural to have LUMIX do the same. With four cameras produced in such a short time, it left doubt in the minds of many whether there would be a continuation of the GH line. The GH5s, a somewhat improved video-orientated version of the GH5, was released in 2018, and it\u2019s been radio silence ever since.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recently, there were rumors of a new GH model. And today, not one but <em>two<\/em> new GH cameras have been announced. The GH5 II and the GH6. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-gh5-ii\"><span id=\"gh5-ii\">GH5 II<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Quick specs:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>20.3-megapixel Digital Live MOS sensor with anti-reflection coating<\/li><li>C4K\/4K 60p\/50p 10-bit internal\/external simultaneous recording<\/li><li>C4K\/4K 30p\/25p\/24p 4:2:2 10-bit video, V-Log L, and unlimited recording time<\/li><li>Wireless live streaming<\/li><li>Improved AF with face\/eye\/body detection<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s important to note that this isn&#8217;t a new iteration of the GH line\u2014the GH6 will take that spot\u2014but an improved version of the GH5. And, I guess you could say the improvement is extremely light, as even the body is practically the same as the GH5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Like the GH5s, this has been engineered as a video creator camera first, a stills camera second. The GH5 II has borrowed the updated Venus processing engine from the S1H, allowing it to capture 10-bit 4:2:0 60p 4K\/C4K video, and this is with no crop. Or, 10-bit 4:2:2 60p 4K\/C4K to an external recorder. But, as noted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panasonic.com\/uk\/consumer\/cameras-camcorders\/lumix-mirrorless-cameras\/lumix-g-cameras\/dc-gh5m2l.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Panasonic<\/a>, it has an anti-reflective coating that promotes improved image quality. And, coupled with the new image processor, they say that the dynamic range will also slightly be enhanced. However, we\u2019ll have to wait until YouTube test videos pop up to explore that claim.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A few years back, I covered a topic on whether the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.premiumbeat.com\/blog\/gh5-v-log-firmware-upgrade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">V-Log<\/a> upgrade was worth it, as back on the GH5, you had to pay a $100 upgrade license. Well, the GH5 II comes with pre-installed V-Log L, which is the preferable Panasonic color profile to use in order to maximize dynamic range and retain all possible <a href=\"https:\/\/www.premiumbeat.com\/blog\/free-premiere-pro-lumetri-looks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">color grading<\/a> avenues when in post-production.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another upgrade from the GH5 is the improved autofocus, which comes with the new processor. I was never fond of LUMIX\u2019s autofocus. I felt it worked average, at best. GH5 owners will likely buy the GH6, and those looking to buy the GH5 will probably sweep up the offloaded GH5 models. Or, given that the GH5 is a few years old (and now discounted), pick up a new model and still save money from buying the GH5 II.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As we don\u2019t have a review unit yet, I\u2019ll hold off on my final thoughts, but the camera does leave me puzzled.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-gh6\"><span id=\"gh6\">GH6<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, while the GH5 II is more of a release announcement, the GH6 news is an in-development announcement, likely to appease investors. Therefore, the information isn\u2019t as dense. You can read the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/panasonic-develops-the-lumix-gh6-micro-four-thirds-mirrorless-camera-301298650.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">full press release<\/a>, but let\u2019s highlight some key sentences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Panasonic is proud to announce the development of the LUMIX GH6 that combines the new Micro Four Thirds sensor and a new image processor.
