I’m not gonna lie. I haven’t seen a camcorder in action in a long time. The last place I saw them in use was a college sports broadcast about three years ago. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aside from some niche broadcasts and news, I don’t really know what the market for camcorders is anymore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, there are still some benefits to using camcorders, like the built-in zoom and longer recording times that don’t cause the camera to overheat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I haven’t worked in news in well over a decade now, but the industry itself has shifted hard into state-of-the-art broadcast cameras for large-budget productions, while leaving field reports to figure it out for themselves with whatever equipment they have or can find. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Canon knows this well, which is probably why this is the first XF-series model to feature USB Video Class, allowing use as a webcam without the need for\u202fa third-party HDMI to USB adapter.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They want to go after the live-streaming market, but considering the $4,499 USD price tag and overall size of this camera, it’s just not going to work on the desk setup most streamers use. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
