Now, it’s essential to make clear distinctions among the various areas of CGI, particularly when comparing it to live action, practical effects, and CGI itself. At first glance, the differentiation might appear straightforward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While we often equate CGI to modern films, especially from the 2000s onward, CGI is nearly as old as most of Hollywood’s current legacy stars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The early examples of computer-generated imagery (CGI) in significant film productions can be traced back to 1973’s Westworld<\/em><\/a> and 1977’s Star Wars<\/a><\/em>. Westworld<\/em> was particularly notable for featuring the first instance of CGI in film, albeit briefly, for approximately 10 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
