An expression is a little piece of software\u2014much like a script\u2014that evaluates to a single value for a single layer property at a specific point in time…With expressions, you can create relationships between layer properties and use the keyframes of one property to dynamically animate other layers.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In more simple language, expressions are short code snippets that will automate action in your After Effects project (such as wiggle, jitter or bounce). \u00a0This saves significant time, in that you don’t have to create new keyframes for each action.<\/p>\n
