There are few sounds as recognizable worldwide as the <strong>iconic roar<\/strong>. So when Ethan Van Der Ryn and Erik Aadahl were tasked with creating a new roar for the 2014 Godzilla movie they had big shoes to fill.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/145212257&amp;color=ff9900&amp;auto_play=false&amp;hide_related=false&amp;show_artwork=true\" frameborder=\"no\" scrolling=\"no\" width=\"100%\" height=\"166\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The original 1954 roar was made by Japanese composer Akira Ifukube who used a leather glove, <strong>double bass<\/strong>, and Pine tar to create the sound. The result was fantastic but audiences in 2014 demanded a little more. Ryn and Aadahl began their search by recording screeches and calls from various wildlife but \u201cnothing quite felt right\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/pbblogassets\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Screen-Shot-2014-05-20-at-10.35.05-AM.png\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-40635\" style=\"border: none;\" title=\"Godzilla 2014\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/pbblogassets\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Screen-Shot-2014-05-20-at-10.35.05-AM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"490\" height=\"209\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ryn and Aadahl then turned to objects including ironing boards &amp; rusty car doors but they still couldn\u2019t find anything that would suit their needs. That\u2019s when they decided to turn to <strong>microscopes<\/strong>. Scientific microscopes offer users the ability to capture sound waves that humans can\u2019t normally hear. The sounds when slowed down can create some awesome results including the 2014 Godzilla <strong>screech<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The noise even triggered fearful tourists to call the police to Universal Studios.
