To achieve the shot, they wrapped the camera and lens body in sponge padding and had the actors punch the camera. The era of horror, mystery, and sci-fi films used the technique to captivate and scare audiences. In 1947, the <em><a title=\"Lady in the Lake on IMDb\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0039545\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\" target=\"_blank\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Lady in the Lake<\/a><\/em>\u00a0used <strong>POV<\/strong> shots like never before. The <strong>subjective camera<\/strong>, a <strong>POV<\/strong> shot term referring to the\u00a0view of the subject, was used throughout the entire film.
