Adobe officially launches their CS6 product line and begins taking pre-orders for May 2012 delivery.<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Although speculation about the new line of products has been happening around the ‘net for several weeks, the official announcement of the photo, web and video toolkit came today with the unveiling of Adobe Creative Suite 6<\/strong>. \u00a0Updates have been made to all 14 applications in the suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Dreamweaver.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Production Premium Upgrades<\/h3>\n

Adobe has made major upgrades to their CS6\u00a0Production Premium<\/strong> applications for video production and motion design. \u00a0A full list of new feature additions can be found on the Adobe site<\/a>, but here are some of the highlights:<\/p>\n

  • After Effects<\/strong> is said to have “the most significant update in a decade” with major advancements in app speed and the addition of extruded text and shapes.<\/li>\n
  • Premiere Pro<\/strong> also gets a speed upgrade, along with new video editing tools for multicam, clip trimming and greater support for a wide variety of cameras and codecs.<\/li>\n
  • Early users are raving about the new content-aware tools in Photoshop<\/strong>. \u00a0Catering to the DSLR shooter, Photoshop<\/strong> now has added video editing functions (see video below for more details).<\/li>\n
  • Two new applications have been added to the production suite, Adobe Prelude<\/strong> for logging\/ingest and Speed Grade<\/strong>, a powerful finishing and\u00a0color-grading tool.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Adobe Creative Cloud<\/h3>\n

    Adobe has also introduced a new pricing model with the launch of Creative Cloud<\/strong>. \u00a0Users can now subscribe to all of Adobe’s software offerings for one monthly fee instead of purchasing the apps out-right. \u00a0A Creative Cloud<\/strong> membership starts at $49.99 a month, but previous Adobe customers can get in at an introductory price of $29.99 a month (with an annual contract). \u00a0This new app pricing model will likely expand Adobe’s already substantial user base.<\/p>\n
