The hack is pretty ingenious\u00a0in its simplicity<\/strong>. Basically all you need are the following:<\/p>\n Optional Items:<\/p>\n One of the biggest drawbacks of the Zoom H1 is that it doesn’t have XLR input natively<\/strong>. This means that if you’re using it, you can only use low-end mics and recording devices<\/strong> to feed directly into the recorder. By adding dual XLRs to the input<\/strong>, you essentially turn the H1 into an H4<\/strong> in terms of stereo XLR-quality audio<\/strong>. Here’s how the two XLRs work.<\/p>\n Another drawback to the H1<\/strong>, if you are using it to feed into another camera or mixer<\/strong>, is that it only has one output jack<\/strong>. For this hack to work, you’ll need to add a splitter to allow for headphone monitoring<\/strong> and sending into your camera<\/strong>.\u00a0All you really need to do is add the splitter<\/strong> to the output jack\u00a0and plug in a short 3.5mm to 3.5mm cables<\/strong> to go into your camera.\u00a0 The final step is to add the cold shoe adapter to the back of the H1<\/strong> to attach to your camera. The adapter operates on a simple thread system where you “screw” and “unscrew” the circles<\/strong> until you can slide the adapter onto your camera’s built-in mount<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Once you have the adapter on and attached<\/strong> and your 3.5mm cable plugged into the camera<\/strong>, your work\u00a0should be complete. You can now plug two XLRs into your H1<\/strong>, monitor the audio, and send it directly to your camera<\/strong> or mixer of choice!<\/p>\n\n

You can clip the excess tie lengths and wrap together the excess cord<\/strong> after plugging into the input port.
