How long have you\u00a0been a photographer and videographer?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>YP:<\/strong> I&#8217;ve been interested in photography since I was a child, and that was because I used to watch an incredible amount of documentaries, especially about wild places, and I just loved the sceneries and the way they were captured in those documentaries. <strong>I<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>thought about\u00a0becoming a photographer at\u00a0the age of eleven.<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n<p>While reading <a title=\"National Geographic magazine\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalgeographic.com\/magazine\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><em>National Geographic<\/em> magazine<\/a>, I saw an advertisement for\u00a0the <a title=\"Nikon j1\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nikonusa.com\/en\/nikon-products\/product-archive\/nikon1\/nikon-1-j1.html\" target=\"_blank\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Nikon j1<\/a>, a little mirrorless which I still use for some of my\u00a0timelapses\u00a0today. I decided to buy it, without knowing too much about photography itself. I decided to try to edit those video clips just for fun. It was from there that photography and videomaking came together, and I was hooked.<strong> I spent\u00a0hours in front of my computer watching every type of tutorial I could find on YouTube<\/strong>, and I still do today. I&#8217;ve been a videographer and photographer for about five years now.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PB: What drew you to shooting\u00a0timelapse videos?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>YP: <\/strong>That was a pretty simple choice. Like I said, I became interested in videomaking. <strong>The camera I had first was really, really bad at taking video<\/strong>, but it was surprisingly good at taking photographs. <strong>It took high-quality RAW files, which were fantastic for me<\/strong> once I understood how to work with them. What type of projects do you frequently find yourself working on?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>YP: <\/strong>In the past few years I found myself doing every kind of short video I could. That was from commercials to documentaries and even music videos. But the<strong> type of work that I like the most is timelapse<\/strong>. With that being said, I&#8217;m introducing video at normal speed or slow motion into my work, like I&#8217;ve started to do in\u00a0my series,\u00a0<em>Motion<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/rfmENM3x3b8?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>PB:\u00a0Can you go into more detail about the gear you use?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>YP:<\/strong> If you are into nature\u00a0timelapse\u00a0photography, you know that <strong>the most important thing is weight<\/strong>. You can&#8217;t hike to a spot hours from the closest road while carrying a two-meter slider and a heavy-duty tripod. You have got to be efficient with what you decide to carry.<\/p>\n<p>My go-to setup for timelapse videos is very simple. I have a Manfrotto backpack in which I have my three cameras of choice: the <strong>Nikon d7100<\/strong>, the <strong>Panasonic GH4<\/strong> (that I can also use for 4K video), and the <a title=\"Sony RX100 Mark II\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sony.com\/electronics\/cyber-shot-compact-cameras\/dsc-rx100m2\" target=\"_blank\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Sony RX100 Mark II<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For lenses, a <a title=\"Tokina 11-16 f2.8\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tokinalens.com\/tokina\/products\/atxpro\/atx116prodxii\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Tokina 11-16 f2.8<\/a>, a <a title=\"Sigma 18-35mm\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sigmaphoto.com\/18-35mm-f18-dc-hsm-a\" target=\"_blank\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Sigma 18-35 f1.8<\/a>, and a <a title=\"Tamron 70-200 f2.8\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tamron-usa.com\/lenses\/prod\/70200_di.php#ad-image-0\" target=\"_blank\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Tamron 70-200 f2.8<\/a>. Also, during the past few years I have met some really talented photographers.
