DP7 Field Monitors Now Have Real Time Color Grading
SmallHD’s DP7 Field Monitors allow for real time color grading using 3D LUT’s.
The latest firmware update for SmallHD’s DP7 line of field monitors allows for ‘real time’ color grading. This feature is really handy if you are trying to show your director, producer or client what a finished product will look like. No more on-set complaints about footage looking ‘muddy’.
Using the feature is super easy. Simply load a 3D LUT onto your SD card from your favorite color correction/color grading software. After the LUT is loaded on the card place it in the DP7 monitor. The monitor will automatically recognize the card. Now all you have to do is scroll to the LUT tab in the menu and select any LUT on your card. Even though as DP’s we are accustomed to seeing ungraded footage when shooting, it is still super helpful to be able to see a more accurate representation of what the video will look like in post.
