Assimilate Releases Scratch Play – a Free Universal Media Player

Assimilate has released Scratch Play – a player that can tackle both pro and consumer video formats.

Scratch Play

In an attempt to connect with a larger user-base for their post production products, Assimilate packs a lot of punch into the free Scratch Play media player. Play supports industry standard acquisition, editing and delivery formats/codecs:

  • Arri
  • Canon
  • Red
  • Sony
  • Camera RAW
  • MXF
  • DPX
  • OpenEXR
  • ProRes
  • Quicktime
  • Windows Media
  • MP4

Scratch Play works with both Mac and PC and is ideal for the on-set review of shots, pulling stills, creating looks and exporting LUTs, as well as editorial/visual effects.

A free (ad-supported) version can be downloaded from Assimilate.  Get the ad-free version for only $5.

Assimilate made news earlier this year with the announcement of a subscription model for their video finishing application, Scratch. As the industry moves toward lower priced post-production solutions, the release of a FREE player app seems like a smart move to build awareness of Assimilate’s powerful post production tools.
