After Effects Quicktip: How to Create Realistic Camera Shake

By Gilles Arbour on August 11, 2010 Category: After Effects,After Effects tutorials,Tutorials

In this tutorial we will be taking real-world footage, shot specifically for the purpose of using the camera’s motion and natural shake. We will be tracking the footage and saving the data to use as camera animation in After Effects. We will also take a look at how we can save this effect as a preset for future projects.

The tracking stuff wasn’t new to me, but the footage was a great addition. Footage, created for tracking, seems pretty rare on the web.
However, I was wondering if there is a way to make the look of the z-axis even more organic. In this case it was an adequate solution, but it doesn’t fit always. Is there maybe a way to parent the z-axis to another axis-data with a softer shake to make it even better ?

Thanks for the tutorial and the footage anyway!
