GoPro is going airborne. New GoPro drone product to be announced at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show.

GoPro plans to dive into the consumer drone market and launch it’s own drone line sometime in 2015. It was recently announced that GoPro would present their newest product at the J.P. Morgan Tech Forum at CES 2015 on Jan. 6th in Las Vegas. Initial reports state the new GoPro drone will retail for between $500 – $1000.

Early indications suggest this is a multi-rotor drone possibly similar to the Chinese DJI S1000. GoPro drives significant revenue from the sale of their accessories, so entry into this product category seems like a logical step for the company to take.

Is it a winner takes all consumer drone market? We’re curious to see.
