Final Cut Pro X Video Tutorial: Using Compound Clips

Ben Consoli
Published: Last Updated:

Use compound clips in FCPX to master your organization and video editing workflow.

In a previous tutorial we took a look at how to create compound clips in FCPX. In this tutorial I’ll take it a step further and show you how to use compound clips effectively . The tutorial covers:

  • Creating compound clips
  • Adding onto compound clips
  • Nesting clips

In essence, compound clips can be thought of as compositions with nested clips inside. By compounding a clip you make it easier to add effects to multiple clips without dragging the effects over one by one. Additionally, compounding clips can aid in project organization. If you haven’t seen my previous tutorial on making compound clips I highly recommend watching that tutorial first.
