Creative Inspiration

Seventh Movement is a Oakland, California based video production duo specializing in timelapse for broadcast. The following timelapse reel is the result of their recent work capturing images for the 2013 New York City based US Open. The reel consists of some of the most iconic sights of New York in timelapse, many shots using motion control rigs. Seventh Movement works under tight deadlines and shooting schedules, making the quality of their work even more impressive.

A few notes on their gear…

  • Cameras: 6 Canon 5D MarkIIIs and 2 RED Epics.
  • Lenses: Primarily Canon 17mm TS-E , Zeiss 15mm and Canon 8-15mm fisheye lens.  Other lenses include the entire Zeiss kit ( 15, 21, 35, 50, 85, 100 ) and the Canon TS-E kit ( 17, 24, 45, 90 ).
  • Motion Control: Kessler Crane CineDrive system and a few Dynamic Perception Stage Zero systems

Kessler recently did a really interesting in-depth interview with Seventh Movement about their shooting style, production process, and challenges. A good read for video production pros here.
