If your production requires a reflective holiday mood, “It Came Upon The Midnight Clear” may be the perfect Christmas stock music for your project

Though well over 150 years old, “It Came Upon The Midnight Clear” is a relative newcomer to the canon of classic Christmas carols. The words were written by Edmund Sears, a Unitarian minister from Massachusetts. Originally, it was written as a poem and published in The Christian Register, a Boston newspaper of the day, in December of 1849. Incidentally, it was less than a year later, in 1850, that Richard Storrs Willis—a protégé of Felix Mendelssohn—wrote the music that would later be joined with Sears’ poem to become the composition we know today.

If your production requires a reflective holiday mood, “It Came Upon The Midnight Clear” may be the perfect Christmas stock music for your project.
