As predicted, refunds are coming to those who preordered the modular Craft Camera. Here’s what the company had to say.

One of 2016’s biggest camera flops was the independently manufactured Craft Camera. After following the debate in forums and having plenty of discussions here in our office, many wondered if the modular camera would ever come to market. Well, now we know.

Originally targeted to ship in December of 2016, it has been revealed that the Craft Camera will not be manufactured. Those who paid the $500 preorder fee will be refunded in full. Refunds will be issued beginning on February 14th.

The modular camera made a lot of promises: HD, 4K, attachable elements for audio, power, LCD monitor… It seems manufacturing each of these proved to be too much.

Here is the email sent to preorder customers:

Dear preorder holder,

Unfortunately, due to multiple constraints Craft Camera will not be manufactured in the foreseeable future. Therefore we will be refunding every preorder. The refunds will be processed in the order they were placed. We will begin issuing refunds in batches starting on February 14th and will continue until February 28th. At that time every order will be refunded. You will be notified via email that your refund has been issued. Please allow 2-3 days for the refund to post.

Thank you for believing in the product and showing your support!
