Drone lords DJI launched their NAB 2017 business with the announcement of the Ronin 2, a machine that Paul Pan, DJI Senior Product Manager, calls “the best stabilizer we have ever made.”

Ronin 2 dramatically improves every aspect of the camera operating experience…. Completely redesigned to meet the needs of today’s camera professionals, Ronin 2 makes it easier than ever to capture stunning cinematic footage under the widest variety of situations.

Ronin vs. Ronin 2: Improvements, Advancements, and Upgrades

NAB 2017: DJI Announces the Ronin 2

So what’s the difference in the Ronin and the new Ronin 2? Increased versatility for one. In addition to the handheld capabilities consumers expect from the Ronin line, the new iteration adds aerial, car mounting, cablecam, and Steadicam capabilities. Beefed-up torque motors empower the Ronin 2 to carry a larger payload — up to 30lbs at speeds as high as 75mph. The enlarged cage can handle everything from DSLRs to cinema cameras.

And the upgrades keep coming: onboard GPS, an ultra-bright touchscreen for on-the-fly settings tweaks, and hot-swappable batteries strong enough to power a RED DRAGON.

The video below features the Ronin 2 in action and goes a little more in depth with the rig’s capabilities. For even more info, check out DJI’s Ronin 2 site. You can read the official announcement for yourself right here.
