NAB 2019: G-Tech Releases a Virtually Indestructible Drive
At NAB 2019, G-Technology announced their latest drive — a durable, affordable solution for protecting your footage from the elements.
Yesterday I covered LaCie’s 8TB drive, and it’s a real stunner. It has the speed, the durability, and the storage. But, it’s an 8TB drive, so it comes at a pretty substantial price. Drives are important production tools, and filmmakers are often loyal to particular brands. If a brand takes care of you, you’re most likely to return the favor. So when G-Technology announced a new monster drive like the ArmorATD, G-Technology fans everywhere could rejoice, as there is now a solid drive that’s as secure as it is affordable.
The drive is officially called the ArmorATD Rugged Terrain Drive, and the name couldn’t be more fitting. This thing definitely looks the part — there are internal shock mounts, an aluminum enclosure, and a protective rubber bumper. They say this little guy is crush resistant up to 1,000 lbs. — as well as rain and dust resistant.
No Film School met up with Christina Garza at G-Technology to talk about the new drive.
The drive is available in three different sizes:
- 1TB – $99 — Up to 140MB/s
- 2TB – $120 — Up to 140MB/s
- 4TB – $170 — Up to 135MB/s
