Attention Vloggers: Meet Deity’s Smallest Microphone—The V-Mic D4 Mini

Published: Last Updated:

Let’s check out the specs on Deity’s smallest, budget-friendly microphone, the V-Mic D4 Mini. Perfect for all you vloggers out there!

Deity’s microphone lineup continues to grow, and their latest microphone looks like it will definitely shake things up for vlog and action camera content creators. The Deity V-Mic D4 Mini is a “micro shotgun” microphone designed to mount on your camera or smartphone. Immediately, you can tell that this microphone is aimed to compete with other popular vlog microphones, such as the RØDE VideoMicro.

The Deity V-Mic D4 Mini touts a list of functionality improvements that will, hopefully, make recording easier for filmmakers, and it also comes in at a competitive price point of just $49.95.

Better Design

You can tell that Deity did their research with the design of the D4 Mini. It hosts several usability improvements for content creators. The first is that the microphone output jack is located on the side of the microphone and not the back. This prevents the output cable from hanging down and blocking the eyepiece on the back of the camera.

The D4 Mini also utilizes a new offset shock mount, which helps prevent the microphone from being visible when filming with a wide-angle lens or action camera. When it comes to mounting the D4 Mini, you have three different options: cold shoe, 3/8″ threaded, and 1/4″ threaded mounts.

Finally, the D4 Mini doesn’t require any batteries or switches to record. You simply mount it, plug in the audio cable, and you’re ready to go.

Stand-out Features

Probably the biggest stand-out feature on the D4 Mini is the inclusion of a unique audio input jack. This allows you to plug in a secondary audio source, such as a lav microphone, into the D4 Mini. Then, when you’re recording, the D4 Mini’s audio will record onto the left channel and the secondary audio source will be recorded onto the right channel. This is perfect for recording natural ambiance at a location, while simultaneously recording a person speaking.

Next, the D4 Mini features a medium-sized 14mm diaphragm, allowing for better frequency response and increased sensitivity.

And finally, the D4 Mini includes a faux fur windscreen capable of withstanding winds up to 20mph—perfect for recording outdoors in rough conditions.
